Our Children Today

Foster Care

In July of 2020, after moving all the children from the children’s home to the same property, the Department of Social Welfare reunited the children with family members. Many had someone they could spend time with on breaks, but who were not able to raise them full time. It was a sad day to see our compound devoid of any children. Because of our love for these children, we committed to continue to support their education as long as we were able to connect with them. Two of the children, the boy twins Peter and Paul, eventually returned to our care.

We decided to switch over to Foster Care. We would support people willing to be foster parents, but who did not have the financial means to do so by partnering with them. Xorve and William, who have taken care of our children since the time of Rev. Sharon, went for training to be qualified as Foster Parents with the Department of Social Welfare. This, in addition to caring for 4 children of their own.

Our First Foster Family

In 2021 Xorve and William and another woman we hired were certified as foster parents.  The newly hired woman did not work out, but Xorve and William almost immediately received a new baby, Kwabena. Prosper continued to live with them as he prepared for his national exams post high school and helped with the farm. He now spends his university vacations there. They also are visited by some of our other young adults.

Xorve and William occupy the Ocean House and now have 5 foster children. The Lord has blessed us with Kwabena a wonderful little boy with a vibrant personality. In the Spring of 2024 they received two girls, Julian and Angel, and Sidum came to them later that year. The surprise for Christmas 2025 was receiving a newborn girl named Kekeli. Xorve LOVES babies, and William is just as happy as she is to receive a new one. Xorve and William are wonderful foster parents, and the children are flourishing under their care.

Our Second Foster Family

Our second Foster home is with Pastor Fred and Blessing Bansah in New Bapka. It is here in this loving atmosphere that Peter and Paul, our twin boys with sickle cell anemia, are flourishing. Peter and Paul have been with us since they were born. When the children were all sent home, Peter and Paul went home to their father who was not able to care for them well. After many months an intervention was carried out because it became obvious that they could no longer stay there. They spent time in the hospital to recover from malnutrition and the sickle cell anemia which was out of control. They are now healthy and happy with this family where there are 7 other children. Pastor Paul and Blessing have their own children plus they are caring for a set of twin girls and their brother whose parents have passed away. The mother was a sister of Blessing. It is a full house, but a happy one. Peter and Paul enjoy playing football (soccer) and helping with the small store that the family runs.

Children in the Community

We continue to follow the children that were reintegrated with their families after leaving the children’s home. We provide for their schooling, books, uniform, lunches, and extra remedial classes if needed.  We have also provided tutors for the children that were behind in their schooling. In addition, we have helped support the education of some of our staff’s children.

Daniel.jpg

Daniel

Daniel came to Titian Ministries as a baby, but was discharged to the care of a loving aunt. He is finishing high school where he is a boarding student. His major is Home Economics for catering. We provide all his school and boarding needs as well as all the dishes, cooking utensils, stove top and cylinder that is required for the catering course. Daniel is industrious and will do well in life.

Kekeli

Kekeli, a single mother of a boy about 3 years old, is in a sewing apprenticeship. We are paying the fees associated with the apprenticeship, buying her supplies and material needs, and sending money for lunches.

Our Young Adults

rita.jpg

Rita

Rita is now a qualified seamstress and is working in a clothing factory in Accra. She had not been doing well in school and showed interest in becoming a seamstress. When she completed her training, we sent her to learn advanced skills with Esther who was formerly with the Titian Ministries Vocational school as the swing instructor. Rita has become very skillful in the work.

Joshua

Joshua graduated from nurses’ training and has completed his one year of national service as required by all graduates. He is looking for a job which are very hard to find. At the present time he is helping out at our head office. He took care of the ministry when Rev. Donna was on furlough in the United States. We are so proud of this son of the ministry. This young man worked very hard. His desire is to be an emergency room nurse. We pray a job opens for him soon.

joseph.jpg

Joseph

Joseph has just graduated from a 4-year degree program as a teacher. Joseph has made great progress both as a young man and as a student who had to work hard to get the grades needed to graduate. His major is junior high school and Social Studies. He will now begin his year of national service for the government as a teacher. He has a great interest in teaching cultural arts to children.

Prosper

Prosper is in his third year at the University of Education Winneba in the Graphic Design Program. His course work includes a lot of practical assignments for graphic design and photography. He needed a very good laptop that could handle all of the necessary programs. So, a laptop, Camera Canon 6D and Cannon Lens 24-105MM were purchased by our ministry after receiving a generous donation for this purpose. Prosper is a hard-working young man and very grateful for all that is being done for him.

Justice

Justice was reunited years ago with his family by Rev. Sharon. We were happy when we heard from him again in January 2023. Justice was completing his final year at Accra Technical University in Building Construction. He had worked very hard to put himself through but needed help with the school fees for the last year. He has a family so we know this will help him support them.

Janet

Janet, William and Xorve’s oldest daughter, finished her 2-year community nursing program in 2024. We bought her laptop, books, and paid for tuition. Her parents took care of her other needs. She is a very hard worker and has enrolled herself in courses to further her education.

bless.jpg

Bless

Bless is the sister of one of our previous employees who was still working and living here at the time. Bless stayed with her so we came to know Bless well. We assisted Bless by paying her tuition and buying her books. She graduated from the School of Hygiene’s 2-year Environmental Health program in 2024.

Our Adult Children: Where They Are Now

Patience

When Rev. Donna first came back to Adidome in 2014, she was on going to church and was greeted by Patience. She recognized her and reminded Rev. Donna that she is one of the trokosi rescued by “Madame Sharon.” Patience is now one of the church deacons. It was exciting to see how far she had come.

Newell

Newell is a young man who Rev. Sharon supported through high school. He completed Teacher’s Training College and teaches in a primary school. He helps some of the children who do not have what they need because he remembers how he was helped. Newell put himself through college where he met his wife, Olivia. They now have four daughters.

Christian

Christian is a young man who was one of the first orphans to come to the mission in 2003. He was sent home to be with relatives but later came to Adidome to go to high school. We found out he was struggling financially and had him come to stay on the mission until he completed his studies. He is now working in Accra.

Gladys

Gladys came to Rev. Sharon as a very young girl and was brought up in her household. She went to school and later served in the mission house. Rev. Sharon sent Gladys to Social Work school. After she graduated, she worked for an NGO that helped reunite children who were trafficked with their families. She then had a long career with Compassion International. Gladys was also on the Titian Ministries Board in Ghana. Sadly, Gladys passed away in 2025.

Aurelia

Aurelia’s father is a fetish priest. When Rev. Sharon went to Benin to free the trokosi there, Aurelia’s father asked if she would take his daughter too to give her an education. Aurelia completed school and served on the mission for many years. She is now married and has two beautiful children. Her daughter, the first born, is named after Rev. Sharon, and her son is named after Pastor Gerrie’s (our international Director) husband Jack.
